A Psalm by Annie Chuning – April 23, 2021

Statement of Faith

We believe that God created man and that He created them male and female. As such He created them different so as to complement and complete each other. God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. Therefore, we perform and mentor marriages in accordance with Biblical guidelines. (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; John 4:16-18; Romans 1:18-32; 1 Corinthians 5:11, 6:9-11. 6:18-20, 7:1-3 and 7:8-9; Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 5:3-7; 1 Timothy 1:9-11)

A Psalm of Remembrance

By Annie Chuning

Though I’ve undergone successful psychological and psychiatric treatment for diagnosed anxiety and a specific phobia, I still struggle sometimes. Yesterday, my anxiety didn’t adversely hinder my daily life (I was still able to go to work and carry out my routines), but I found myself in tears at the end of day and decided to take prescribed medication. Reading the Psalms the past two weeks have been incredibly helpful to root myself in repetition of truth before tackling the day. Writing a psalm today has felt empowering, allowing me to claim God’s goodness over a tiny battle in a war I know He’s already won on my behalf.

Your Plans for Me Are Good

I have been fearful of ants since I was a small child
Your plans for me are good
I live in an older house with many cracks and crevices
Your plans for me are good

Unexpected cold weather and rain drove ants into our house this week
Your plans for me are good
At first, I wasn’t too bothered by the new influx of ants
Your plans for me are good

Yesterday, anxiety about the ants built within me throughout the day
Your plans for me are good
I read Truth in the morning, practiced yoga, and tried to relax after work
Your plans for me are good

By the time my husband came home, the anxiety was high and tears had come
Your plans for me are good
I decided to take prescribed medication
Your plans for me are good

A part of me felt like I had failed
Your plans for me are good
I know the medicine was helpful and gave us a more peaceful evening
Your plans for me are good

I hope that today will be different
Your plans for me are good
But if I struggle with anxiety again
Your plans for me are good
