There’s a lot of
negativity in our society about marriage. From attempts to redefine what
it is, to a widespread perception that it’s just too hard and will inevitably
fall apart. Marriage isn’t always viewed as the ideal it once was.
Sure, no marriage is perfect — every relationship
encounters difficulty. When both husband and wife are committed to living
according to God’s design, and working through struggles together as a team, we
can illustrate the beauty of what marriage is with the Lord at the
center. That’s a theme of today’s Focus
on the Family®
Broadcast: “Valuing Marriage in a Culture That Doesn’t,”
featuring Lamar and Ronnie Tyler.
Lamar and Ronnie each brought their own difficult
story to their marriage. He was raised in a broken home and grew into
adulthood surrounded by messages of why marriage “couldn’t” work, leaving him
reluctant to try. While she came from a Christian home, her poor choices
as a young adult left her as a single mother with two children born out of
wedlock. But God’s redemptive work in both their lives prepared them to
meet, marry, blend a family and add two more children of their own. Now
they have a powerful online outreach for others who face similar challenges.
The Tylers’ ministry primarily speaks to the
African-American community, but the insights they offer on blending a family
and valuing marriage provide encouragement and hope for any demographic and
situation.
You can listen to the
broadcast “Valuing Marriage in a Culture That Doesn’t” in our media center.

Stepfamilies for a donation of
any amount.
